In a saute pan, heat the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook until brown. Drain well of grease and return to the pan.
Add in taco seasonings and 1 tablespoon of water, simmer to combine, and taste for seasoning. Take the taco meat off the heat and allow to cool slightly while you layer the rest of the ingredients.
Preheat the oven to 350° F.
In the oven-safe dish layer first the sour cream, then the salsa, then the cooked taco meat mixture, and top with shredded cheese.
Bake in a 350° oven for about 20 minutes, or until the dip is hot and cheese is melted.
Remove from oven and top with any garnishes of your choice, serve with tortilla chips. Be careful serving as the dish will still be hot.
